Pentecost Activities

Lets Celebrate Pentecost together!

Acts 2:1-4
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Pentecost commemorates the time when the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus’ disciples and followers after Jesus’ resurrection. Did you know that originally Pentecost was a harvest festival in the Jewish culture occurring 50 days after Passover? Interesting that between Easter and Pentecost are 50 days. Isn’t God amazing like that?!

As believers we celebrate the days that lead up to Pentecost starting with “Ascension Thursday”; which marks when Jesus ascended into Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father. These days between Ascension Thursday and Pentecost are highlighted by 9 Prayers – known as the Spiritual Novenas.

We hope you’ll join us on a special Pentecost Journey. So we’ve set up some activities you and your families can do to celebrate, explore, and experience it in a new way this season. We’ve posted a calendar of the activities below. It all starts with Ascension Thursday, May 21!

– Check This Out –

You can also follow @Lighthouse805 on Instagram or Facebook, for these daily activities to celebrate the journey to Pentecost!  Here’s the post for Ascension Thursday –

Ascension Thursday is the day Jesus ascended into Heaven after having spent time on earth with his disciples after His resurrection. You can observe this by having a special dinner with your family. Whether it’s take-out or home-cooked, make it special. Light candles, use the fancy plates, decorate your table in a new way, and share pictures of your special meal by tagging @lighthouse805! #ascenionthursday #pentencost2020 #ascensionday #pentecostjourney

We’d love to see how you’re celebrating, so please share your experiences!
