Practically Perfect In Every Way
This morning at Ventura Lighthouse church, we explore the Telios in the Greek. It means it’s finished and completed fully. Jesus on the cross said 7 things (7 is the number of perfection); and the seventh was “it is finished” – telios. Join us as we look at the perfecting and completing work God is doing in us.
To follow along with Pastor Matt – here’s an outline of today’s message:
1 – Perfect Love
1 John 2:5 But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him.
A – Are You Listening
B – Are You Obeying
C – Mirror Check
2 – Purged Fear
1 John 4:17-18 This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day – our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. 18 There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life – fear of death, fear of judgment – is one not yet fully formed in love.
A – Worry
B – Fear Of Death
C – Fear Of Judgment
3 – Perfecting Faith
Hebrews 11:39-40 Not one of these people, even though their lives of faith were exemplary, got their hands on what was promised. God had a better plan for us: that their faith and our faith would come together to make one completed whole, their lives of faith not complete apart from ours.
A – Clear Goal
B – Community
C – Consistency
