Jubilee!

Count off seven sabbath years–seven times seven years–so that the seven sabbath years amount to a period of forty-nine years. Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement sound the trumpet throughout your land. Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each of you is to return to your family property and to your own clan. Leviticus 25:8-10

The 50th year – the year of Jubillee! God instituted the year of jubilee, a most remarkable feature providing redemption to Israel, a reset of sorts to what God provided them in giving them their property in the Promised Land. Each man received and inheritance to stay with his family for all generations. Today, we have our own great story of redemption. Through trusting in Jesus for His sacrifice and forgiveness of sin, we experience Jubilee. We return to a right relationship with God which was His plan for man from the beginning. We are redeemed from the clutches of sin and brought into our Promised Land. What a joyful event it was for those already in Christ, and still to be for those coming to Christ in the coming days.
