Isolation

The LORD said to Moses, “Command the Israelites to send away from the camp anyone who has a defiling skin disease or a discharge of any kind, or who is ceremonially unclean because of a dead body. Send away male and female alike; send them outside the camp so they will not defile their camp, where I dwell among them.” The Israelites did so; they sent them outside the camp. They did just as the LORD had instructed Moses. Numbers 5:1-4

In 2020/2021 we all understand the need for isolating people infected with covid-19 for safety sake for others. God’s commands created a similar situation 3,500 years ago for those with certain skin diseases, discharges, or had been exposed to a dead body. They were isolated outside the Israelite camp. God knew the dangers before there was clear medical understanding of bacteria and viruses. He also knew what was needed to keep His people safe. So He instituted those measures. Obedience to the Lord and trusting Him kept Israel safe from most diseases and illnesses both then and now.
