Christian Conduct

Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. 1 Peter 2:11-12

Have you ever lived temporarily in another state or country? You realize where you are is not your home, that you will be going home again at a later time. So it is for the Christian. This life on earth is only a temporary living assignment, our home is with the Lord in heaven for all eternity. Our bodies are earthly bodies and subject to sinful desires. But Christ died to free us from the bondage of sin, so we can abstain from sinful desires of this world. In place of sinning we are to do good works and live good lives such that even those who disagree with our faith can’t help but see our deeds and ultimately recognize that Jesus is Lord.
