Day 7: Your Will Be Done, Not Mine

Why Is Obeying God So Hard? · Walking With Faith · September 5, 2026

Scripture
"Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine." — Luke 22:42 (NLT)
Luke 22:42

Saul said, 'I will do what looks best to me.' Jesus said, 'I will do the Father's will, even when it costs Me everything.' Jesus understood exactly what He was facing — the cup of suffering — and He still chose the Father's will over His own comfort. This is what walking with faith looks like. It is not white-knuckling your way through life. It is asking the Holy Spirit — before the text, purchase, post, argument, decision, temptation, or commitment — 'Jesus, what does following You look like right now?' Because of Jesus you are forgiven when you mess up, your past is not held over you, and the Holy Spirit lives in you and gives you power for your next choice. As you prepare for tomorrow: this week you will face a choice. Ask Jesus to guide you in that choice.

Prayer

Father, I want Your will to be done, not mine — even when it costs me. Holy Spirit, before each choice this week, show me what following Jesus looks like right now.
