Day 6: Saul Feared People More Than He Feared God

Why Is Obeying God So Hard? · Walking With Faith · September 5, 2026

Scripture
But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, "I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do." — Acts 13:22 (NLT)
Acts 13:22

If you read the entire story around Saul, you discover that Saul feared people more than he feared God. He worried about what the army would think, how he would look, and what would please the people. David was called 'a man after my own heart' — not because he was perfect, but because his heart belonged to God: 'He will do everything I want him to do.' David would fail too — but when confronted, he repented. Saul protected his image; David broke before God. Because of Jesus, you are forgiven when you mess up, and your past is not held over you. Today you can choose the posture of David — honest, humble, and surrendered to God instead of to your image.

Prayer

Jesus, I don't want to live afraid of what people think. Give me a heart after Your own heart — one that repents quickly and follows You fully.
