Day 4: Partial Obedience Is Still Disobedience

Saul insisted, 'I did obey the Lord' — while the best of the sheep, goats, and cattle were still standing behind him. He had convinced himself — and tried to convince God — that he had a spiritual reason for disobeying: they're going to sacrifice them to the Lord. It is the literal picture of some believers: living Monday through Saturday doing whatever they wanted, then showing up to 'worship' God on Sunday. But worship to God isn't about the sound coming out of your mouth; it's about your heart. The moment you get saved, every second of your life is about worshipping God. In the Old Testament, listen/obey means hearing with the intention of doing what you heard. God does not only want us to hear His Word; He wants us to let His Word change our choices.
