Day 3: Everyday Choices Are Spiritual Choices

Why Is Obeying God So Hard? · Walking With Faith · September 5, 2026

Scripture
And Samuel told him, "Although you may think little of yourself, are you not the leader of the tribes of Israel? The Lord has anointed you king of Israel. And the Lord sent you on a mission and told you, 'Go and completely destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, until they are all dead.' Why haven't you obeyed the Lord? Why did you rush for the plunder and do what was evil in the Lord's sight?" — 1 Samuel 15:17-19 (NLT)
1 Samuel 15:17-19

Samuel cuts straight to the heart: 'Why haven't you obeyed the Lord? Why did you rush for the plunder?' Saul had the position, the anointing, and the mission — but his small everyday choices revealed who was really leading him. Everyday choices are spiritual choices because they reveal who is on the throne over your life. Sin creeps in one tiny choice at a time — the glance, the edit, the rationalization. When Jesus is on the throne, He points it out to us. He doesn't leave us in the dark; He lovingly confronts us through His Word, His Spirit, and sometimes His people.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, point out the small choices where I have drifted. I choose Jesus as the One leading me today.
