Fear does not always make us deny Jesus. It can make us silent about Jesus. We don't run from Him — we just stop talking about Him. We hold back the encouragement, we skip the invitation, we stay quiet instead of speaking the truth in love. But God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity. He has given us a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. The fear you feel is not from Him, and it is not the final word. Ask the Lord where you have been silent about Him, and let the Spirit of power, love, and self-discipline move you to speak.
Father, forgive me for the places I have been silent about You. You have not given me a spirit of fear — fill me with Your power, Your love, and self-discipline so I can speak.
