Day 7: Living Free from Bitterness

Why Do I Keep Getting Hurt? · Living With Wisdom · July 11, 2026

Scripture
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. — Colossians 3:12-13 (NIV)
Colossians 3:12-13

Forgiveness is not always a one-time decision for deep wounds. It sometimes requires daily forgiveness. You choose again tomorrow. And the day after that. Every time the thought comes back, you bring it back to the cross. Paul says to clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. These are not feelings — they are choices. You put them on like clothes. As you prepare for tomorrow, ask God to search your heart. Is there any root of bitterness still hiding? Bring it to light one more time. Forgive again. Not because they deserve it. Because you were not built to carry it.

Prayer

Lord, I choose today to forgive. Again. I release every person who has hurt me into Your hands. Fill me with Your peace and help me walk free from bitterness tomorrow and every day.
