Day 5: Peace in the Storm

Why Can't I Find Peace? · Living With Wisdom · June 27, 2026

Scripture
A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. — Mark 4:37-39 (NIV)
Mark 4:37-39

The disciples were in a storm so violent that experienced fishermen thought they would die. And Jesus was asleep. Not because He did not care, but because He was at peace. He knew the storm was not going to sink them. When they woke Him, He did not rebuke them for being afraid — He rebuked the storm. The same Jesus who calmed the sea with three words is in your boat. The storm is not bigger than the One who is with you in it.

Prayer

Lord, when the storms of life overwhelm me, help me remember that You are in the boat with me. Speak peace to my situation and peace to my heart.
