James lists the characteristics of heavenly wisdom, and peace is second — right after purity. The order matters. True peace does not come from compromising what is right. It comes from a pure heart that produces peace without sacrificing truth. Wisdom knows the difference between avoiding conflict for comfort and making peace for righteousness. Are you avoiding a hard conversation to keep the false peace, or are you willing to walk through it to find real peace?
God, give me wisdom that is first pure, then peaceable. Help me know when to pursue peace and when to stand for truth — and give me the grace to do both.
