Jesus spoke these words the night before He was crucified. He knew what was coming — betrayal, arrest, torture, death. And He said do not let your hearts be troubled. Not because everything would be fine, but because His peace is not dependent on things being fine. The world gives peace by removing problems. Jesus gives peace in the middle of them. That is a different kind of peace altogether.
Jesus, I need Your peace today — not the world's peace that depends on everything being okay, but Your peace that exists in the middle of the storm.
