Day 6: Rest Was God's Idea First

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work. — Exodus 20:8-10 (NIV)

Exodus 20:8-10

God commanded rest before He ever commanded work. In creation, God worked six days and rested on the seventh — not because He was tired, but because He was setting a rhythm for us. Rest is not a reward you earn after you finish everything. Rest is a rhythm God built into the fabric of creation itself. If you are overwhelmed all the time, it might be because you have ignored the rhythm God designed you to live in.

Prayer

Lord, forgive me for treating rest as optional. Help me honor the rhythm You built into creation and trust that the world will keep turning even when I stop.
