Day 1: The Weight of Anxiety

Why Am I So Overwhelmed? · Living With Wisdom · June 13, 2026

Scripture
Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up. — Proverbs 12:25 (NIV)
Proverbs 12:25

Anxiety is described as a weight that presses down on the heart. The Hebrew word suggests heaviness, like carrying something too heavy for you. Many of us try to ignore the weight or pretend it is not there, but the first step toward freedom is admitting that you are carrying something you were not built to carry. A kind word can lift it — but sometimes you have to be honest enough to let someone speak that word into your life.

Prayer

Lord, I admit that I have been carrying weights I was never designed to hold. Help me be honest about what is heavy and open to the kind words You want to speak into my life.
