Who Is Driving My Life? · With Authority · September 12, 2026
The Greek word translated "authority" here is exousia — the rightful authority, jurisdiction, permission, or legal right to act. It is not raw strength or power. Think about a police officer directing traffic: a car has more power than the officer pointing where to go, but the officer has more authority — so you do what they say. Power is the ability to do something. Authority is the right to direct something. Most of us confuse the two. We tell God, "Oh, I can handle this. I can take care of that." And we probably can — but that is just grabbing the steering wheel back from Jesus. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Jesus steering and driving is what leads us, guides us, and grows us. Today, let Him drive.
Lord, forgive me for grabbing the wheel when You were driving. I give You the right to direct every part of my life — even the parts I think I can handle myself.
