Where Is Jesus When I'm Anxious and Depressed? · Walking With Faith · August 15, 2026
Just one chapter earlier, Elijah saw God send fire from heaven on Mount Carmel. The nation saw that the Lord is God. Then Jezebel sends one threat — and Elijah runs into the wilderness and wants to die. This proves that a person can love God deeply, see God move powerfully, serve faithfully, and still become exhausted, afraid, and emotionally overwhelmed. The Bible does not call Elijah weak. It shows us he is human. Anxiety and depression are not always a lack of faith. Sometimes they are what happens when a person has carried too much for too long. Jesus meets us even when we have nothing left — even when all we can find is a solitary broom tree.
Jesus, meet me today even when I feel like I have nothing left. Help me know that being overwhelmed does not mean my faith is small.
