Day 1: This Is Not Where I Expected to Be

What Am I Doing With My Life? · With Purpose · November 1, 2026

Scripture
This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says to all the captives he has exiled to Babylon from Jerusalem: Build homes, and plan to stay. Plant gardens, and eat the food they produce. Marry and have children. Then find spouses for them so that you may have many grandchildren. Multiply! Do not dwindle away! — Jeremiah 29:4-6 (NLT)
Jeremiah 29:4-6

Have you ever thought, ‘This is not where I expected my life to be?’ Your job, relationships, or season looks different from what you imagined. Be encouraged — that holy discontent may be the Holy Spirit whispering kingdom thoughts of purpose right to you. God spoke to exiles whose lives had been completely disrupted, and He didn’t tell them to wait it out. He told them to build. Purpose begins with faithful investment in what is actually in front of you.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, when I feel that ache that life isn’t what I expected, remind me it’s You calling me to purpose. Show me what to build right where I am.
