Day 6: The Road to the Cross

Welcoming the King With Hope · With Hope · March 28, 2026

Scripture
From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. — Matthew 16:21 (NIV)
Matthew 16:21-23

Jesus knew exactly what awaited Him in Jerusalem. He knew the cross was coming. He walked toward it anyway. Peter tried to talk Him out of it, and Jesus said 'Get behind me, Satan.' The cross was not a plan B. It was the plan from the beginning. The same Jesus who rode into Jerusalem on a donkey knew He would be led out of Jerusalem carrying a cross. And He did it willingly. For you. That is the kind of King we serve.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for walking toward the cross when You could have walked away. Give me courage to follow You even when the road is hard.
