Day 4: Moved in His Gut

Use What He's Giving You · Special Messages · October 25, 2026

Scripture
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. — Matthew 9:36 (NLT)
Matthew 9:36

The Greek verb splagchnizomai describes deep, inward compassion — a gut-level response to someone's suffering. Jesus is personally moved by their condition, so He acts. His compassion leads to practical ministry: teaching, proclaiming good news, and healing. Compassion that never moves is only sentiment. Before labeling someone difficult, consider what pain, confusion, or loneliness they may be carrying. Understanding does not excuse harmful behavior, but it changes how we approach them.

Prayer

Jesus, help me care about people the way You do. Move me in my gut the way You are moved, and turn my feeling into action.
