Day 2: Fear and Joy

Rising With Hope · With Hope · April 4, 2026

Scripture
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. 'Greetings,' he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. — Matthew 28:8-9 (NIV)
Matthew 28:8-9

The women felt two things at once: fear and joy. This is the honest response to encountering the risen Jesus. There is joy because death is defeated, but there is also fear because you realize you are standing in the presence of the living God. Both are appropriate. Jesus met them in their mixed emotions. He did not rebuke their fear. He greeted them. He welcomed their worship. You do not have to have perfect faith or perfect courage to encounter Jesus. You just have to come as you are.

Prayer

Jesus, I come to You with my fear and my joy. Thank You that You meet me where I am. I worship You as the risen Lord.
