Sharpening iron against iron is not a gentle process. It creates friction. It makes sparks. It removes material. Real spiritual friendship sometimes involves hard conversations. But the goal is sharpness — being more effective, more useful, more like Christ. If your relationships are only comfortable, you might be missing the sharpening part. The best friends are not the ones who agree with everything you say — they are the ones who love you enough to tell you the truth.
Lord, give me friends who will sharpen me, and make me a friend who sharpens others. Help me love people enough to speak the truth in love.
