Day 3: Honest Lament

My Life Is Falling Apart, What Do I Do? · With One Another · May 30, 2026

Scripture
How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? — Psalm 13:1-2 (NIV)
Psalm 13:1-2

The Bible is full of honest prayers. David does not pretend to be fine. He asks 'how long?' four times. He tells God exactly how he feels. God can handle your honest questions. He can handle your anger, your confusion, your disappointment. The psalms teach us that faith and honesty are not opposites. You can trust God and still ask 'why?' Lament is not the opposite of faith. It is faith in the middle of pain.

Prayer

God, I am honest with You today. I do not understand what is happening. But I choose to trust You even when I cannot see what You are doing.
