Day 1: The God Who Is Always Working

Is Jesus Really With Me at Work? · Walking With Faith · August 1, 2026

Scripture
So the Jewish leaders began harassing Jesus for breaking the Sabbath rules. But Jesus replied, "My Father is always working, and so am I." — John 5:16-17 (NLT)
John 5:16-17

Jesus has just healed a man at the pool of Bethesda on the Sabbath. The religious leaders are furious and accuse Him of breaking the Sabbath law. Jesus doesn't argue about technicalities — He goes deeper: 'My Father is always working, and so am I.' In Genesis 2, God rested on the seventh day, but that doesn't mean He retired. The Father is still working, holding the universe together, sustaining life, loving people, healing people. And Jesus is doing the same work His Father is doing. Before we ever ask 'Is Jesus with me at work?', we have to understand that God Himself is a worker. He is not just the God of Sunday; He is the God of Monday morning too. The Father is at work, the Son is at work, and the Spirit is at work right now.

Prayer

Father, thank You that You never stop working. Help me see that You are at work right now in my life, my work, and my everyday moments — not just on Sunday.
