Day 5: Not the Mountain, the Messiah

How to Talk About Jesus Without Making It Weird · With Purpose · November 8, 2026

Scripture
“But the time is coming — indeed it’s here now — when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” The woman said, “I know the Messiah is coming — the one who is called Christ. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus told her, “I am the Messiah!” — John 4:23-26 (NLT)
John 4:23-26

She raised the old debate: Jerusalem or Gerizim — where is the right place to worship? Jesus lifted her eyes higher: the time is coming, indeed it's here now, when true worshipers worship the Father in spirit and in truth. Then He told her plainly, 'I am the Messiah!' Worship was never about the mountain. It was always about the Messiah. We still argue about styles, places, and preferences while Jesus invites us to Himself. Are you defending a mountain Jesus already moved past? Worship Him today in spirit — fully engaged — and in truth — fully honest.

Prayer

Father, I worship You in spirit and in truth today. Free me from arguing about where and how, and fill me with who — Jesus, the Messiah.
