Day 2: See People, Not Problems

How to Talk About Jesus Without Making It Weird · With Purpose · November 8, 2026

Scripture
The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?” Just then his disciples came back. They were shocked to find him talking to a woman, but none of them had the nerve to ask, “What do you want with her?” or “Why are you talking to her?” — John 4:9, 27 (NLT)
John 4:9, 27

The disciples went into town to buy food. The woman went to the well to draw water. Everyone had an errand, but Jesus saw an opportunity. When the disciples returned, they were shocked to find Him talking with a woman. Where they saw an unexpected conversation, Jesus saw someone worth reaching. Jews and Samaritans carried deep division — different worship mountains, a destroyed temple, generations of tension. Jesus did not keep the tension. He crossed it. Who do you see as an interruption or write off because of reputation, mistakes, or differences? Ask Jesus to let you see them the way He does.

Prayer

Jesus, change how I see people. Help me see a person, not a problem — someone worth reaching, not an interruption to avoid.
