Day 4: Do Not Be the Bottleneck

How Do I Follow Jesus When I Feel Too Busy? · Walking With Faith · August 22, 2026

Scripture
But select from all the people some capable, honest men who fear God and hate bribes. Appoint them as leaders over groups of one thousand, one hundred, fifty, and ten. They should always be available to solve the people’s common disputes, but have them bring the major cases to you... They will help you carry the load, making the task easier for you. — Exodus 18:21-22 (NLT)
Exodus 18:21-22

A bottleneck is the narrowest part of a bottle — everything may be ready to flow, but it gets backed up at one small point. Moses had become the bottleneck, and sometimes our overwhelm is not because life is too full but because we have made ourselves the bottleneck. You may be blocking what God wants to do through other people because you will not release control, ask for help, delegate, or say no. People matter too much for one exhausted person to be the answer to everything. You can care deeply without carrying everything personally.

Prayer

God, show me the people You want to pour through — the helpers I have been refusing. Give me the humility to release control and let others carry the load with me.
