Day 1: What Are You Really Accomplishing Here?

How Do I Follow Jesus When I Feel Too Busy? · Walking With Faith · August 22, 2026

Scripture
The next day, Moses took his seat to hear the people’s disputes against each other. They waited before him from morning till evening. When Moses’ father-in-law saw all that Moses was doing for the people, he asked, “What are you really accomplishing here? Why are you trying to do all this alone while everyone stands around you from morning till evening?” — Exodus 18:13-14 (NLT)
Exodus 18:13-14

Moses is doing something good. He is helping people, resolving conflicts, leading with faith — and he does it from morning till evening. But he is doing it all alone, and Jethro sees it immediately: “What are you really accomplishing here?” That question is worth sitting with today. Busyness can feel like faithfulness, but a full calendar is not the same as a fruitful life. Walking with Jesus in a busy life starts with recognizing that you are not God — you cannot carry everything, fix everyone, or say yes to every demand.

Prayer

Jesus, slow me down long enough to answer honestly: what am I really accomplishing here? Show me where I have been carrying things You never asked me to carry alone.
