The father does not just forgive the son — he restores him. A robe to cover his shame. A ring to restore his family identity. Sandals, because he is not returning as a servant — he is returning as a son. This is what grace does. God does not just wipe away your mistakes; He covers your shame, restores your identity, and gives you a place at the table as a son or daughter. You may have walked home expecting only to be hired. Jesus wants you to know you are coming home as family.
God, cover my shame with Your grace, restore my identity as Your child, and remind me I am not a servant in Your house — I am family.
