Elijah's prayer has a purpose behind it: so these people will know that you are God. That is a good test for every prayer we pray. Are we praying for an audience of One who wants to be known, or are we praying to be seen? Whenever you pray, call on the authority of Jesus and point everyone towards Jesus.
Jesus, answer me — not for my sake, but so the people around me know that You are God and that You have brought them back to You.
