Day 6: Do Not Feed What You Ask to Be Freed From

Can Jesus Actually Break Addictions and Curses? · Walking With Faith · August 29, 2026

Scripture
Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don't let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. - Romans 13:14 (NLT) | So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won't be doing what your sinful nature craves. - Galatians 5:16 (NLT)
Romans 13:14, Galatians 5:16

There is one simple, honest truth at the heart of freedom: you cannot keep feeding what you are asking Jesus to free you from. To remove the contaminated stones, the priest had to stop feeding the mildew - quarantine it, scrape the walls, take the contaminated material out. In our lives, that means clothing ourselves with the presence of Jesus and refusing to think about ways to indulge our desires. It means letting the Holy Spirit guide our lives so we are not doing what our sinful nature craves. Whatever you are asking God to break, you have to stop feeding it. This may mean hard changes in your habits, your content, and your company - but freedom is worth it.

Prayer

Holy Spirit, guide my life today. Show me where I have been feeding what I am asking You to break, and give me strength to quarantine it and clothe myself with Jesus.
