Day 5: Quarantine the Triggers

Can Jesus Actually Break Addictions and Curses? · Walking With Faith · August 29, 2026

Scripture
Then the priest will go in and examine the mildew on the walls. If he finds greenish or reddish streaks and the contamination appears to go deeper than the wall's surface, the priest will step outside the door and put the house in quarantine for seven days. On the seventh day the priest must return for another inspection. If he finds that the mildew on the walls of the house has spread, the priest must order that the stones from those areas be removed. The contaminated material will then be taken outside the town... Next the inside walls of the entire house must be scraped thoroughly and the scrapings dumped in the unclean place outside the town. Other stones will be brought in to replace the ones that were removed, and the walls will be replastered. - Leviticus 14:37-42 (NLT)
Leviticus 14:37-42

Some things in our lives are triggers that keep the junk hidden and growing. The priest quarantines the house for seven days - and seven days in Hebrew meant spiritual completion and holiness. Jesus comes into the dark areas of our lives when we ask Him to, and calls us to quarantine away from the triggering areas until that addiction, habit, or generational curse no longer has a hold on us. This is not literally seven days - it is until that sin no longer has a hold on you, until it is complete and finished. Whatever it is, separate from it with Jesus in the middle. That thing that traps you back into bad habits can even be a person.

Prayer

Jesus, help me quarantine the triggers in my life. Show me what I need to separate from - even if it is a person - until it no longer has a hold on me, and keep Yourself in the middle.
