Day 1: Do You Want to Be Healed?

Can Jesus Actually Break Addictions and Curses? · Walking With Faith · August 29, 2026

Scripture
When Jesus saw him lying there, he knew that the man had been ill for a long time. "Would you like to get well?" Jesus asked. "I can't, sir," the sick man said, "for I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I am trying to get in, someone else always gets there ahead of me." Jesus told him, "Stand up, pick up your sleeping mat, and walk!" - John 5:6-8 (NLT)
John 5:6-8

This is the scene Theo Von kept wrestling with - a man who had been sick for 38 years, and Jesus asks him one startling question: "Would you like to get well?" It seems obvious - of course he wants to be well. But the man only answers with the reasons he can't: no one helps him, someone always beats him in. Jesus asks us the same question today: do you actually want to be healed? Do you want to live differently? Sometimes healing is expensive because it requires change. Jesus is not asking whether you think healing is possible - He is asking whether you are willing to lay down the old way of living and walk.

Prayer

Jesus, I hear Your question and I want to answer honestly. Yes, I want to be healed - even if it requires me to live differently. Help me stand up and walk with You.
