Day 4: Fragile Jars, Great Treasure

Can God Really Use Me? · With Authority · October 11, 2026

Scripture
You see, we don't go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, "Let there be light in the darkness," has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves. — 2 Corinthians 4:5-7 (NLT)
2 Corinthians 4:5-7

Clay jars were the cheapest, most breakable containers in the ancient world — and that is exactly the picture Paul chooses for us. The value is in the treasure they carry, not the container that they are. We are fragile, imperfect, and ordinary, and the devil wants us to believe we must become perfect before we share the treasure with anyone. That is an impossible task designed to shame us into doing nothing. Your cracks do not disqualify you; they prove the power is from God, not from you.

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for trusting this treasure to a fragile jar like me. Forgive me for waiting to be perfect. Let Your power shine through my weakness today.
