Day 3: The Shepherd and the Prophet

But Amos replied, "I'm not a professional prophet, and I was never trained to be one. I'm just a shepherd, and I take care of sycamore-fig trees. But the Lord called me away from my flock and told me, 'Go and prophesy to my people in Israel.'" — Amos 7:14-15 (NLT)

Amos 7:14-15

Amos had every excuse ready: no training, no title, just sheep and trees. But the Lord called him away from his flock anyway. God does not recruit only the best of the best — He calls shepherds, fishermen, and ordinary people, then sends them. Pair that with Isaiah's answer: "Here I am. Send me." What is your flock — the ordinary work in front of you right now? God may be calling you away from it for one conversation, one prayer, one act of obedience today.

Prayer

Here I am. Send me. Lord, call me away from my routine the way You called Amos, and give me the courage to say yes like Isaiah did.
