Day 5: Given Authority to Serve

Scripture

Then the angel of the Lord spoke very solemnly to Jeshua and said, 7 “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: If you follow my ways and carefully serve me, then you will be given authority over my Temple and its courtyards. I will let you walk among these others standing here. 8 “Listen to me, O Jeshua the high priest, and all you other priests. You are symbols of things to come. Soon I am going to bring my servant, the Branch.” — Zechariah 3:6-8 (NIV)

Zechariah 3:6-8

Satan wanted Jeshua removed from serving. God gave him authority to walk among the others standing there. Restoration is not only a rescue from shame; it is a restoration to purpose. If shame makes you shrink back from the very place God calls you to, that is the enemy getting his way. Ask yourself what you have been avoiding out of fear, and note that avoidance is a form of the same lie.

Prayer

Lord, give me the courage to step back into the room I have been avoiding. I want to serve You there, and I want Your authority and not my own strength.
